Edelman Smithfield hosted a webinar exploring how the results from the 2024 election could impact the U.S. economy and financial markets. Moderated by Politico’s Sam Sutton, the panel included insights from Kathy Bostjancic, Chief Economist, Nationwide Mutual and Philip Straehl, Chief Investment Officer, Americas, Morningstar Wealth. The conversation also dug into the results of a recent survey examining the sentiment of institutional investors in wake of the election of Donald Trump.
The pulse survey from Edelman Smithfield found institutional investors are confident in the U.S. economy post-election and believe it will grow over the next two years.
Additional takeaways include:
- An overwhelming number of institutional investors (91%) are optimistic about achieving target returns over the next two years.
- Nearly three-quarters of investors (72%) are considering increasing their investments post-election and nearly half are considering increasing hedges to manage risk in their portfolios.
- Investors see finance (62%) and real estate / commercial real estate (56%) as the greatest areas of opportunity for investment over the next two years.
These results were unveiled in a webinar hosted by Lisa Leiter and Sean Neary, Managing Directors and U.S. Co-Leads of Financial Services. Watch the full webinar here: Edelman Smithfield Webinar: Post-Election Analysis & Outlook
